Academic context

The professorship is located at the Institute of Educational Sciences of the Faculty of Education.

Duties

The successful candidate is expected to represent the areas of school development and teacher professionalization in teaching and research, with special consideration of the demands of inclusive education. In research, the professorship should contribute to the further development and subject-related profiling of the central school-related research area with theoretical and empirical work. The incumbent is also expected to contribute considerably to the implementation of the future concept of the Faculty of Education (https://uni-l.de/zukunftskonzept-erzwiss) in at least two areas of research, promotion of young academics or transfer. The duties of the professorship include teaching in the educational science components of the teacher training degree programs, responsibility for the module "School as a Learning and Living Space" and conducting examinations in all teacher training degree programs.

Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to research towards processes of change in schools, teacher education and teaching profession. It is expected that processes of change in schools, teacher training and the teaching profession will be researched based on school pedagogical theories taking social factors into account. The applicant must be nationally and internationally recognized in the focus areas of “school quality development” and “professionalization” (cooperation, publications, third-party funding). Research achievements must be demonstrated in at least two of the following areas:

  • Organizational and personnel development (e.g. school development networks, case-oriented school development research; teacher health)
  • Empirical research on and/or reflection of educational relationships in school quality development and professionalization (e.g. taking into account precarious educational and socialization conditions)
  • School quality development and professionalization in the context of processes of social change (e.g. development of full-day schooling, digitalization, participation, inclusive education, ...) 
  • Professionalization with a focus on the first, second and/or third phase of teacher education (e.g. casuistic professionalization in the teaching profession; professional competence of teachers; habitus formation)
  • Professionalization and school development in relation to multi- and inter-professional cooperation (e.g. in multi-professional teams; researcher-practitioner- dialogues).

At least one of the candidate’s research foci must have relevance for school development in the context of inclusive education and/or professionalization in the context of inclusive education.
The candidate should show the potential for outstanding teaching in the areas mentioned under "Duties". Teaching experience and didactic aptitude at university level are required.

Applicants must meet the requirements of § 59 SächsHSG, provide proof of a relevant doctorate in educational science and have at least three years of teaching experience at a school.
