The Department for Small Animals is one of four clinics at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (VMF) at Leipzig University. It has a comprehensive technology platform for diagnostic imaging: 3Tesla MR system, spectral CT scanner, computed radiography (CR) and direct radiography (DR), several ultrasound units, stationary and mobile fluoroscopy units,  diagnostic image archiving and communication system (PACS). In addition, a biplanar high-speed fluoroscopic kinematography (FluoKin) unit is located at the faculty.

Duties

The successful applicant will be a professor in the Department for Small Animals. He or she will be responsible for the area of diagnostic imaging in teaching, research, clinical services and continuing education, and the coverage of the examination subject radiology (§43 TAppV). Active participation in clinical services as well as in research is of particular importance. Collaboration with other departments and institutes, especially the clinical departments, and participation in research foci is explicitly desired.

Requirements

The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate sound knowledge in all areas of diagnostic imaging and radiology (with focus on small animals), and exceptional experience and success in research, teaching and acquisition of research funding. The successful applicant must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Germany, or must be eligible to achieve licensure. Clinical specialization (“Fachtierarzt/-ärztin”) and/or board certification with a relevant European or American College (ECVDI/ACVR) is expected in order to create the basis for the establishment and maintenance of national and international specialty programs. The applicant must hold a habilitation degree or an equivalent qualification. Language of instruction is German. Successful applicants are required to achieve CEFR level C1 within 6 months.
