Social media enables direct communication between users and depends on user participation. It is important that users are respectful and friendly to one another. When communicating on Leipzig University’s social media channels, users should adhere to the following code of conduct:

  1. We comply with the general standards and terms of use of each social network.
  2. Social media channel administrators have the authority to remove content or users who do not respect netiquette.
  3. When posting images and text on social media channels, all users must ensure that they respect copyright and personal image rights.
  4. Posts and comments should always relate to the topic and purpose of the channel in question. Off-topic posts are inappropriate and unwelcome.
  5. We communicate in a reasoned, courteous and respectful manner.
  6. Posts that are discriminatory, anti-constitutional, demagogic, illegal, pornographic, extremist, racist, vulgar, defamatory, insulting, threatening or otherwise inappropriate – even indirectly – will be deleted without comment. 
  7. Advertising, spam and commercial content from third parties will be deleted without comment. Campaigning or advertising for political parties is also prohibited.
  8. For privacy reasons, confidential information such as addresses, phone numbers, enrolment numbers, etc. should not be posted on social media channels and may be deleted by administrators.
