Abstract
Anna Artwińska is professor for Slavic literary studies (focus: West Slavic studies) and director of the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Leipzig. She studied Polish, journalism and Slavic studies at the universities of Poznan and Freiburg im Breisgau and received her doctorate in 2007 with the thesis "Poetry in the Service of Politics. The Case of Adam Mickiewicz in Communist Poland and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in East Germany". After her doctorate, she worked as a research assistant at the universities of Salzburg and Hamburg. In 2015, she received the Hamburg Teaching Award for outstanding achievements in university teaching. Since 2012 she has been a member of the Centre for Cultural and Literary Research on Communism at the Polish Academy of Sciences and since 2019 a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture - Simon Dubnow.
