The 22nd International Summer School of the Graduate School Global and Area Studies, Leipzig University, is organised in cooperation with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Regional Studies (ZIRS), Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg

More than 40 PhD candidates came together for the first day of the Summer School "Multi-crisis around the World. Perspectives from the Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences, and the Humanities" organised in cooperation with ZIRS, Halle.

Eva Inés Obergfell, Rector of Leipzig University, welcomed the participants in Villa Tillmanns, Leipzig, and emphasised the interdisciplinary character of the Graduate School Global and Area Studies. "This is undoubtedly challenging, but academic discourse can and must be multivocal, and a research profile can only be created by exchange between the disciplines," said Obergfell. She also greeted the presenters coming from Seoul, South Korea and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as an example of the important results from the cooperation with other universities.

As the opening lecture, Professor Dr. Jenny Haase, from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, gave insights into the Aesthetic Perspectives on Multiple Crises from the Latin American South.
