Taking bibliometrics to next level: measuring book publications
Kathleen Schlütter & Carolina Rozo Higuera (ReCentGlobe)
Current bibliometric measurement of research publications is mainly based on journal articles in established bibliographic databases such as Web of Science or Scopus. This tends to limit the visibility of the research production published in books and, ultimately, is a disadvantage for disciplines with a strong book culture in the ranking and visibility game. In our research project “The production of world-knowledge transformed”, we currently develop an approach to apply bibliometrics to monographs and edited volumes. We will present our concept and the intermediate state of the methodology.
