The term "New Work" has long been on everyone's lips. But do "New Work" and science actually go together? In this workshop, you will look at the principles of a new work and leadership culture, reflect on whether these fit in with your desired working day and exchange ideas with colleagues about your leadership tasks in times of transformation.

Scientists, whether they hold a management position or not, are confronted with a challenging working environment. They need to connect people across different time zones and locations, lead international and diverse teams and adapt to rapidly changing teams in a world full of change and uncertainty. Trends such as new work, digitalisation, remote leadership, agile leadership and change leadership are emerging and are critical to success in a constantly evolving work landscape.

The one-day workshop "New Work meets Academia" enables academics to adapt their leadership skills and working methods to the demands of the modern working world. In a dynamic and hands-on atmosphere, you will explore and experiment with agile methods.

We will focus on the following questions

  • Change leadership: how do I lead my team safely through change processes? How do I develop my team so that they see change as an opportunity?
  • Remote leadership: How can teams working in different locations and at different times be coordinated effectively? What strategies promote trust, communication and effective meeting management?
  • Agile leadership: Which agile methods can improve team dynamics and processes? How can agile principles be applied in an academic context?

Not only will you learn about leadership trends, styles and best practices, but you will also try them out in practical exercises and evaluate whether they are relevant to your working environment.
